Small businesses in detail

Why a one-pager is enough for many small businesses

A website for small businesses usually has a simple job: people who were recommended to you or found you on Google want to check quickly that you're for real – and then get in touch. That doesn't take twelve sub-pages, a blog or a customer portal. It takes one page that says in ten seconds what you offer, where you are and how to reach you.

A one-pager does exactly that. Visitors scroll from top to bottom through your offer, see a few photos, read two sentences about you and end up at the contact section. No menu to get lost in, no page that has been "coming soon" for three years. For the café round the corner, the physiotherapist, the photographer or the accountant with a small office, that's often the best solution – not just the cheapest one.

What belongs on the page

A clear order works well. At the top, one sentence on what you do and for whom. Then your services or offer, short and concrete, with prices if you want to show them. After that a section about you: a photo, a few sentences, perhaps how long the business has been around. Then opening hours and your address with a link to directions, and at the very bottom the contact form with your phone number and email address.

It rarely needs more. We help you leave things out – that's often the harder part.

What you bring along

You don't need agency briefs, brand guidelines or a photo shoot. A few notes on your offer, your opening hours, your logo – if you have one – and three to five photos of you, your premises or your work are enough. Phone photos taken in daylight often do the job, as long as they're real. An honest photo of your workshop works better than the tenth stock photo of smiling people in an office.

If you're stuck for words, we ask the questions your customers would ask in the first call. Your answers then turn into the text for your page almost by themselves.

Free – what's the catch?

There's no hidden catch, but there is an open one: we earn money by running the site, not by building it. For €15 a month we host the page on servers in Germany, keep software and certificates up to date and notice when something stops working. The minimum term is 12 months, because that's how long it takes for the build to pay off for us.

To keep that fair, there's no lock-in. You can have the source code at any time, and we transfer the domain to you free of charge on request. If you ever want to move elsewhere, your website comes with you.

Legal: legal notice, privacy, cookies

If your business is in Germany, even a one-pager needs a legal notice (Impressum) and a privacy policy. Both get their own small page, linked from the footer of your website. You provide the details, we take care of the structure. Because the page works without tracking, you usually don't need a big cookie banner either. Instead of an embedded map we link to directions, so nothing loads from third parties.

This isn't legal advice. If you're unsure what belongs in your legal notice, your chamber or trade association can help.

When you grow

Maybe the one-pager is enough for good. Maybe new services come along, a second location, or the wish to take bookings online. Then we build on your existing page instead of starting over – your content, your domain and your Google ranking stay. The calculator below shows straight away what a bigger website would cost.

How we build and run websites in general is explained on the website development page. Whether the one-pager suits you is quickest to settle in a free first call.

Frequently asked questions.

Is the one-pager really free?

Building it, yes. You pay €15 a month plus VAT for hosting, SSL and updates, with a 12-month minimum term. There is no set-up fee.

What happens after the 12 months?

The contract continues and can then be cancelled monthly. There is no lock-in: you can have the source code at any time, and we transfer the domain to you free of charge on request.

Can the website grow later?

Yes. If you need more pages, a content editor or online booking, we build on the one-pager instead of starting over. The calculator below shows what that costs.

Do I get my own domain?

Yes. We register it through us at first and transfer it to you free of charge on request; we can also take over an existing domain. Many domains are included in the monthly price; premium domains may cost extra.

Who writes the texts?

You provide the content – nobody knows your business better. We put it in and tell you honestly where something is missing or too long.

Do I need a legal notice?

If your business is based in Germany, yes: you need a legal notice (Impressum) and a privacy policy. We set both up as small separate pages; you provide the details.
