Custom website development: what you get
When you commission custom website development from ByteFactory, you get more than a design and a few pages of code. You get a website that is built for operations from day one: fast, secure, easy to find – and with one dedicated contact who keeps looking after it after launch. That is what sets us apart from agencies that hand over the passwords at sign-off and disappear from the project.
In concrete terms, a website project covers concept and page structure, design, development on a modern React stack, technical search-engine optimization, the go-live and ongoing operations including hosting, SSL, monitoring and updates. You don't have to choose a hosting company, maintain plugins or put security updates in your calendar. You take care of your business; we make sure the website keeps running.
Website development is one of four services you get from ByteFactory from a single source, so the same contact builds and looks after your website.
React instead of a site builder: why it matters for speed and SEO
Site builders are quick to set up, but they ship a lot of code your visitors never need. That costs loading time – and loading time costs enquiries. Google measures user experience through the Core Web Vitals: how quickly the main content appears, how stable the layout stays while loading and how fast the page responds to input. Google rates as good, for at least 75 percent of page views, a Largest Contentful Paint of 2.5 seconds or less, a Cumulative Layout Shift of 0.1 or less and an Interaction to Next Paint of 200 milliseconds or less.
We develop with React and deliver the pages prerendered as static HTML. Content is in the source immediately, search engines can read every page in full, and images are served automatically in modern formats such as AVIF and WebP. We self-host fonts so that no data flows to third parties when a page loads. Structured data according to Schema.org, a clean heading structure, readable URLs and a sitemap are standard, not extras.
Another advantage shows up later: because the website is custom-built, forms, calculators, booking flows or integrations with your systems can be added at any time without switching platforms.
Hosting in Germany and ongoing operations
A website is not a project with an end date. Certificates expire, dependencies receive security updates, content changes. That's why we operate your website ourselves after launch – on servers in Germany. It also simplifies data protection: there is no additional hosting provider, and visitor data does not leave the EU unasked.
Operations include SSL certificates with automatic renewal, uptime monitoring and regular updates of all dependencies. If you need a change or something isn't right, you don't file a ticket – you write directly to the person who wrote the code. Updates, extensions and support are available months after launch.
Uptime monitoring generally means availability is checked automatically, instead of an outage surfacing through a complaint. Updates also cover the libraries your code builds on, which regularly have vulnerabilities disclosed.
What does a website cost? The honest price components
The cost of a website depends on three factors: the scope, meaning how many pages and templates are needed; the features, such as forms, multiple languages, booking or integrations; and the content, meaning whether you provide texts and images or we develop them together. A focused landing page costs considerably less than a multilingual company site with custom features. In general, what drives the effort is less the number of pages than the number of distinct templates: a blog with a hundred articles gets by with a few.
After the intro call you receive a fixed-price quote for development. Hosting and care then run as a fixed monthly fee. You know in advance what the website costs, with no surprises from timesheets. The package above and the price calculator give you a first indication. Tell us briefly what you have in mind and you'll get a no-obligation quote.
How a website project runs, and how long it takes
Every project starts with a free intro call. We clarify goals, audience, scope and budget. From that we create a concept with the page structure and the fixed-price quote. After your approval, design and development follow. You see progress continuously on a staging environment instead of being presented with a finished black box at the end.
How long it takes depends mainly on scope and on how quickly content and feedback arrive. A focused landing page is usually online within one to two weeks. At launch we check loading time, display on all devices, SSL and the technical SEO fundamentals. Then we take over operations.
Your side of the project consists of texts and images, design approvals and someone who answers questions. In web projects, delays often come from missing content.
Who this is for – and who it isn't for
Our approach suits companies that want a professional website without having to deal with technology, hosting and security themselves: SMEs, service providers, start-ups and associations who need their website to bring in enquiries. It makes particular sense when more features are planned for later, such as an integration with internal systems or a cloud migration of the rest of your infrastructure. The landing page for Hawari Sicherheit, a new security company, shows how this can look: focused, fast, with production-ready hosting.
If, on the other hand, you mainly want to design pages yourself and rearrange layouts by drag and drop every day, a site builder is often the cheaper choice. We'll tell you that openly in the intro call. And if you want to automate documents or enquiries with AI, take a look at our AI model training.

Frequently asked questions.
How much does a website cost?
It depends on scope and features. A lean landing page costs less than a multi-page company site with custom functionality. The price calculator on this page gives you a first, non-binding estimate. Tell us briefly what you have in mind and you'll get a no-obligation quote.
How long does development take?
A focused landing page usually takes one to two weeks, depending on scope and how quickly content and feedback arrive.
Do you also handle hosting?
Yes, by default. We keep running the website after launch – including SSL, monitoring and updates.
Can the website be extended later?
Yes. Because we build and host it ourselves, new pages, features or integrations can be added at any time.
Is the website GDPR-compliant?
We lay the technical foundations: hosting in Germany, self-hosted fonts and tracking only with consent. As the operator you are responsible for the legal notice and privacy policy – we implement them properly.
Do we own the website afterwards?
Yes, with no lock-in. You can have the source code at any time. We register the domain through us at first and transfer it to you free of charge on request. For building blocks we use across projects, you receive a perpetual right to use and modify them – even if another provider looks after the website later. The only exclusion is passing on or selling these building blocks separately from your website.
